Overview

Since 2015, I have created and updated hundreds of billboards that are positioned throughout Houston’s two international airports — Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Houston Hobby (HOU). These airports see millions of travelers every year and this foot-traffic offers a prime opportunity to market Houston for leisure and tourism travel and remind Houston residents of the fun entertainment options it offers them.

Outcome

These billboards are scattered throughout the airports and add color and vibrancy to the walls of the airport that have shown up in social media posts, traveler’s selfies and have even been called out by astronauts and have hopefully been enjoyed by Houston travelers.

Each year a handful of boards are updated or re-printed in the event of damage or wear and tear. They are installed and maintained by JCDecaux and upon first creation were used as an example to other cities advertising in their respective airports of best-practices to follow. Today there are more than 200 billboards spanning the two airports that brightly welcome travelers to Houston.
